Flyingwx.art builds beautiful custom LED aviation weather METAR maps/displays popular with pilots and aviation aficionados alike. We print an FAA sectional/chart to sturdy 3mm plexiglass and then mount multicolor light emitting diodes (LEDs) on another panel on the back side to display real-time aviation weather. When your flying art display is off, it has the appearance of an FAA sectional chart in frame; there are no ugly bulbs protruding into the artwork. When wiring and integration is complete, our craftsmen custom frame each piece in your choice of wood.
When switched on, if an airport within your chart reports a METAR to aviationweather.gov, we’ll illuminate a colored led to display the current flying conditions. The unit downloads weather data via WiFi, or via a wired internet connection. Green shows VFR, blue shows MVFR, red shows IFR and magenta shows LIFR.
You request the geographical area, the size and frame style. Each display is completely customizable. Contact us today to discuss your project and get a customized quote.
